Cory,
RE your questions:
1) there is no transfer fee;
2) evenings start at 6:00pm; and
3) no call display, etc (although you could pay more to have them).

sorry bout that last message.. just wanted to ask, where you live?.. it matters what area code the phone is registered too doesn't it? I'm in Guelph (519 area code) so if you were say toronto (416) wouldn't I be making long distance calls for local ones? and does that even matter as long as I don't go over the 100 min peak/1000min wk/ev quota... Thanks..

Just spoke with Fido. Living in Guelph is no big deal, they'll simply give you a Guelph area code and number (at no cost because you're taking over a plan). Also, when you call you want to ask them for the exclusive 100 weekday minutes / 1000 evening and weekend minutes / unlimited Fido to Fido calls. That's the plan you want and it's only available because you're taking over an existing plan - you get less minutes and it cost more if you're starting a new plan.
